Camping Season is Here

So what is this blog about today?

Today’s blog is all about, “the Camping Life!” I can’t tell you whether you should try it or not. This is my opinion on what can be an adventure for you and your family. Especially, to those who struggle to take their family at an affordable vacation.

Camping is part of my life. When you have four young kids running around who enjoys the outdoors and nature itself, then camping is definitely the way to go! I, myself enjoy the love for the outdoors. So let me begin on why it’s fees-able for us as a family of six. Yes, six at a price of under $3,000.00 dollars located at a campground where you can go as you please for five and a half months. Now are you questioning,  “…how is this possible?” Then, I suggest you read on.

If you love the outdoors, you can make it happen. Just a different scenery in itself, away from everything, and everyone is worth the investment for you and for your family to look forward to every year. And don’t say that you can’t afford it due to financial issues, living pay check to pay check. But you wish to have more for your love ones. You want this, you need it, but you can’t afford it. Why? Think of what’s ahead. And think of what you can do to make it work. Because trust me when I say, we were on the same boat as you!

At one point, my husband and I talked about having to take a trip somewhere, anywhere. A place where we can go for a weekend or a week staying at a bed and breakfast, hotel, resort, just to take the family on a great week/end vacation. But it was never fees-able because having to go for a weekend vacation would cost about $5,000.00 dollars! We struggled. HA! We still struggle but for a good cause. This is how the conversation starts and I know you’ve heard it before, ” Honey, lets take the next year to save for a family trip to ….” or “Honey, lets take our tax refund and take a family trip to….” I think you’ve said it yourself time and time again.

In the beginning  we were camping in a tent at a campground for a week, annually for years. And our children loves being active, in a different, safe, and great environment. But once the week is over, reality sets in, having to miss to go back once again the following year. Then, my husband and I decided that we should make the attempt the following year to become a seasonal instead. A seasonal is where you can get a site at a campground for five and a half months for $5,000 and UNDER, all depending on where you go. OH, did you just say, “WHAT?” Yes, you read that right! Think of all the amenities, activities, and adventure you and your family can have together.

Imagine having to stay at a campground for five and a half months out of the year. Come and go as you please with your family, as said before. Where there is fresh air, wild life, fun for everyone, or just enjoy having to ease your mind at a place where you can just “forget it all”. That my friend, is what we do every year.

Depending on what is around you, every campground differs. And the one I am allocated in is very family oriented. There is a playground, horseshoe pits, fishing, hiking trails by a waterfall that connects to the Long Path Trail , there is an in ground pool, basketball court, bike riding, close to a kayaking area, weekend activities for the young, once a month gathering with all seasonal campers on grounds, etc. We have wonderful nights together as a family around a campfire sitting there roasting marshmallows on a stick to make s’mores. Loving the camping life where we can have an abundant amount of family time.

Imagine, the quality time for you and yours. Something you and your family can look forward to every weekend away from your daily life after a long, hard working week. A GETAWAY! Doesn’t that sound awesome to you? Because we definitely look forward to it.

So your next question is, “what is the investment?” I get it, there’s always an investment.

Well, save your money for the year or use your tax refund like everyone else and invest in a camper. A comfortable camper that is affordable to you. Start searching for campgrounds that you’ve never been in or places you have been to. Check for site availabilities, have them give you a tour, see if it’s the environment you are looking for. I can assure you that it is worth every penny!

Doesn’t it sound like fun? Isn’t it a lot more fees-able than having to spend all that money on a vacation you can’t foresee yourself affording every weekend? And instead of having your kid(s) glued to video games and smartphones, how about having that family time you’re all eager to have or lack of. Nature has a way of getting you to come together as one.  Especially, to those who enjoys the outdoors. Is it for you? I wouldn’t know. That is something you are going to have to ponder upon yourself.
